THE GREATEST SURPRISE OF ALL TIME

In December 1999, I noticed that so many Christians expected that the year 2000 would usher in something dramatic and momentous in the history of mankind. The calculation was that the advent of Christ was 2000 years earlier, and the Biblical events prior to Christ’s advent appeared also to fit into the 2000 years frame. They reasoned that another 2000 years would certainly bring something serious. In fact, many were expecting the second coming of Jesus. I knew they were wrong because such widespread expectation would not exist when the second coming would happen. In fact the reverse would be the case. Read what Jesus said in Matt. 24.42-44: Watch out, then, because you do not know what day your Lord will come. If the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, you can be sure that he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house. So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him. Brother...

There's Victory in Your Mouth! You are Your Own first Prophet!

There is supernatural principle you must have heard about several times. It is the principle of faith confession. This simply involves speaking out or making declarations of what you believe and what you are expecting. Is there a tough matter you have been struggling with? I want to share with you how you can use the power of faith confession to move that mountain. Before I outline some steps for you, I like to draw your attention what Jesus had to say about this in Mark 11:23: I assure you that whoever TELLS this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he SAYS will happen, it will be done for him. The principle of declaration is in TELLING the mountain. It is in SAYING what you believe should happen. In addition to what the lord said here, it is also important to understand the message of Romans 10.8. It says: What it says is this: "God's message is near you, on your lips and in your heart"---that is, th...

ON BEING A REAL CHRISTIAN: A TIME TO “FIGURE OUT”

ON BEING A REAL CHRISTIAN: A TIME TO “FIGURE OUT” The matter of being a Christian has been trivialized today. In the attempt to get the crowd into church we have made the faith lighter than it ought to be. We tried to create a Christianity that the world would not run away from on account of a feeling that it is boring. We have fashioned out the trendy, jumpy Christianity that is all about enjoying life, raking in the goodies and generally living the life. Of course there are doctrinal positions that make people become dull, cold, withdrawn personalities. I once heard a story about a strange Christian fellow who would never laugh out loud. The best you could get from him was a stiff, plastic, ‘holy’ smile. His reason was simple: he never saw where it was written in the Bible that Jesus laughed. One day someone saw him coming out of the toilet and asked him whether he ever read in the Bible that Jesus ever went to the toilet. Our brother burst into laughter and began to laugh since th...

NOW THAT “EVERYBODY” IS BORN AGAIN…

NOW THAT “EVERYBODY” IS BORN AGAIN… Many years ago in my country Nigeria, so many people assumed that they were Christians simply because they were born into Christian or church going homes. Today, it has become obvious that very many people (not everybody) now knows about the concept of being born again. I think the current knowledge level is a result of the Pentecostal revivals Nigeria experienced in the seventies. Many preachers began to emphasize the essence of having a particular time of personal conversion to Christ. As this became common knowledge, many people actually became genuinely converted and born again. At some point, we began to rightly ask people; “when did you become a Christian?” A positive answer to this is usually taken to mean that the person is truly converted. However, the one who knows how to pervert things – Satan – has been busy doing his own thing. Today, it is getting harder to find church people in Nigeria who would not give you a date or story of conve...
