Well, doing the right thing (by God’s standard; that is) requires that you focus on God’s approval and not on the approval of man. Jesus prepared his followers for the challenges that will come with standing for God. Such challenges include the possibility of being rejected or maligned. For example He spoke specifically about the impact of living for the truth on family relationships. Jesus said in Matt. 10.34-36 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. I came to set sons against their fathers, daughters against their mothers, daughters-in-law against their mothers-in-law; your worst enemies will be the members of your own family. Heaven’s Checklist Readings: Jer. 9.23-28; Lk.12.13-21 A checklist is a list of crucial things that have to be verified before something can be said to have met certain prescribed standards. God has his own checklist for assessing us. There are many items on that checklist, but today’s message is about things that are NOT on the list. You earthly possessions, your knowledge and your status are NOT on the list. They are not there at all! This is not meant to make you go to sleep. Keep working hard at your endeavors, but get your priorities right. One day you will answer the checker’s call. He wants to see what you have done with Jesus and the kind of choices you have made thereby. TAKE HEED!
